Jaden Smith is turning his I Love You food truck into a restaurant to distribute food to displaced people in Los Angeles.
The restaurant builds on the efforts he made to help feed homeless people on Los Angeles’ Skid Row two years ago with his food truck.
“It’s for homeless people to get free food,” Smith told Variety. “But if you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you.”
The actor-musician and philanthropist also launched 501CTHREE with co-founder Drew Fitzgerald, which is “a new type of nonprofit for a younger generation focused on energy, food, water and shelter,” according to its website.
“The organization is all about giving back to the community and specifically serving the Black and brown communities that are disproportionally affected by these issues,” Smith said.
His latest campaign with New Balance highlights his Water Box project that provides access to clean water to underserved communities.
