The Weeknd just purchased a $70 million home in one of Los Angeles’ most coveted neighborhoods of Bel-Air.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the lavish home is expected to be one of the highest California home sales of 2021. The approximately 33,000-square-foot megamansion includes a gym, movie theater, music studio, sauna, hammam, tennis court and an indoor pool as well as an outdoor infinity pool that doubles as a waterfall. The exterior of the house sees a dramatic split staircase that takes you from the lawn to the upper patio. The property spans across 1.6 acres of land and overlooks the Bel-Air Country Club.
The previous owners of the home were Dutch media mogul couple Reinout and Danielle Oerlemans. Reinout founded TV production company Eyeworks while Danielle Oerlemans was a pro-cyclist. The couple first bought the home in 2015 for $21.4 million USD but spent an additional three years on renovations to add 13,000 square feet of space to the aforementioned amenities.
