The celebrity couple first teased the meal during an adorable commercial that aired during the Super Bowl. In the ad, Cardi B and Offset joined a handful of other couples as they shared their significant other’s go-to order at McDonald’s.
The campaign launched on Valentine’s Day (February 14), McDonald’s will offer Cardi B and Offset’s shared order — a cheeseburger, BBQ sauce and a large Coke for her, a Quarter Pounder with cheese and a large Hi-C Orange Lavaburst for him, as well as a large fry and apple pie to share.
To boost the effort, McDonald’s is using a variety of mobile and out-of-home elements. The brand will tie up with dating apps like Tinder, BLK and Chispa to let people break the ice by sharing a meal at McDonald’s, while adding a “truth or dare” game to its own app. Plus, it will host a kiss cam billboard by letting customers snap a photo in a kissing booth that will be projected on the billboard at its Times Square location according to Marketing Dive.
“Whether it’s going for a date night or grabbing a bite after late-night studio sessions … I’m always asking Offset to take me to McDonald’s,” Cardi B said in a statement. “And now, Offset and I have a meal named after us! I want all my fans to try it — especially with that BBQ sauce.”
“Let me tell you, McDonald’s is date night done right,” says Offset.
The couple also made a stop at McDonald’s in Time Square to promote their collab meal, according to TMZ a MASSIVE swarm of fans met them there.
