2Pac’s gold, ruby and diamond ring is set to auction by Sotheby. Designed by the rapper himself, the ring was created in commemoration of his engagement to Kidada Jones.
The ring features a crown-shaped design with a gold circlet that contains a central cabochon ruby and two side pavé-cut diamonds. The three gemstones then appear atop a diamond-encrusted gold band. Finishing off the ring is a “Pac & Dada 1996” inscription.
Experts believe he chose the ruby as the principal stone in his crown as a continuation of the artist’s royal narrative, as rubies had been tied to the imagery of monarchy and wealth in culture for centuries by that point.
Shakur’s ring is set to catch between $200,000 USD and $300,000 USD. Sotheby’s online auction for the ring is set to be open from July 18-25.
