Raekwon The Chef of the legendary rap group Wu-Tang Clan has partnered with DoorDash to star in their Super Bowl LVII commercial. The campaign titled “We Get Groceries” also stars Matty Matheson of Hulu’s hit series “The Bear,” and Nickelodeon’s stop-motion-animated Tiny Chef.
In the commercial, Matty, Tiny Chef, and the Wu-Tang legend help a shopper with her grocery list. Wu-Tang Clan’s 2000 hit “Gravel Pit” plays in the background. “Freshest cream always in the back,” Raekwon tells the shopper while grabbing a carton. “‘Cause cream rules everything around me?” she excitedly says as a nod to the famed rap group’s 1993 single “C.R.E.A.M,” an acronym for “cash rules everything around me”.
In an interview with VIBE, Raekwon shared his excitement about being featured in the 30-second ad, which was created by DoorDash’s agency of record, The Martin Agency, and DoorDash’s in-house creative studio, Superette.
“I was linked [with DoorDash] through my company Gold Point. It was a great opportunity. They made sure I was comfortable, and I was excited to do the commercial with them,” Rae said. “I’ve been in the game for a long time, so I look at this as fruits of my labor. To be in it this long and everybody acknowledges me as a chef, it made perfect sense to get involved. I love DoorDash.”
